Common questions

What customers ask before signing the contract.

How long does a typical remodel take?

Standard replaster + retile + equipment refresh runs 3 to 5 weeks depending on weather and material lead time. We commit to a written schedule before draining your pool.

Can I keep the same shape?

Yes. Most remodels keep the existing shell and structure and just refresh surfaces and equipment. Reshaping requires an engineering review and is treated as new construction.

Do you offer PebbleTec?

Yes, we are a PebbleTec Certified Applicator. PebbleTec finishes carry a 5-year manufacturer warranty in addition to our 2-year workmanship warranty.

Plaster, quartz, or PebbleTec: which finish should I pick?

Plaster is the lowest cost and lasts 5 to 7 years in Southern California water. Quartz sits in the middle on price and durability. PebbleTec costs more up front but runs 15 to 20 years, so the cost-per-year usually favors pebble on any pool you plan to keep.

Do I need to be present during the remodel?

No, though we do want a walk-through at drain day and at final acid wash. Daily photo updates keep you informed the rest of the time, and Steve or your project lead is reachable by phone throughout.

Will my pool equipment still work with the new finish?

In most cases yes, though we inspect the pad during the remodel and flag anything at end of life. Salt systems in particular can be hard on a fresh finish if not balanced correctly during startup, which is why we manage the first few weeks of chemistry ourselves.

What causes plaster to fail early?

Aggressive water chemistry (low pH, low calcium hardness) is the most common cause, followed by draining a plaster pool in direct summer sun, which can cause the shell to crack or pop. We walk every customer through startup chemistry and drain timing to avoid both.

Can you match new tile and coping to what I already have?

We can get close on tile that is still in production, and we carry sample boards from major manufacturers for an in-person match. Coping in natural stone rarely matches exactly once weathered, so most remodels either replace the full coping run or lean into a deliberate contrast.

Is the pool unusable the entire time?

Yes, the pool is drained and out of use for the full remodel window, typically 3 to 5 weeks. We sequence the work to keep that window as tight as weather and material lead times allow, and we give you the schedule in writing before we drain it.
